Shannon Olson serves as an Educational Specialist at the Utah State Board of Education supporting Utah LEAs in Elementary Mathematics and Gifted and Talented. Prior to serving at the state level Shannon was an educator in Nebo School District, Fairfax County Public Schools in Virginia, and the Salt Lake City School District. She taught elementary grade levels and supported teachers in the role of an instructional coach. She has also served as a graduate research assistant, curriculum writer, and adjunct instructor for several colleges and universities. In her current position she supports standards implementation, high-quality instructional practices, Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS), competency-based endorsements, Professional Learning, and equitable practices. Shannon’s daily work involves collaborating with Utah educators and leaders to ensure equitable and quality education for all students. Shannon resides in Lehi, Utah with her husband and enjoys yoga, biking, gardening, and cooking.
