Effective teaching of mathematics facilitates discourse among students to build shared understanding of mathematical ideas by analyzing and comparing student approaches and arguments. In this session educators will engage in a mathematical task with discourse, debrief the experience, and explore resources related to mathematical discourse. They will also have opportunities to discuss current and future practices implemented in their own classrooms related to mathematical discourse.
